Un drame s’est produit dans la nuit du mardi à mercredi 22 octobre 2025 à Makangalo, un centre de négoce situé à une dizaine de kilomètres à l’ouest de Biakato-centre, dans le groupement de Babila Teturi, chefferie de Babila Babombi, territoire de Mambasa, en province de l’Ituri.
Un jeune garçon nommé Baraka s’est donné la mort par pendaison, selon les informations recueillies auprès de Rams Malikidogo, secrétaire de la Convention pour le Respect des Droits Humains (CRDH), antenne de Mambasa.
Le drame serait survenu à la suite d’un conflit conjugal avec son épouse, Kavugho Aziza. Après le dîner, cette dernière aurait accompagné le frère de son mari, également prénommé Baraka. Son retour tardif à la maison aurait provoqué une vive tension. À son arrivée, elle découvre son époux pendu à la porte de leur domicile, à l’aide d’un pagne. Pensant qu’il était encore en vie, elle tente de couper la corde, mais en vain.
Le lendemain matin, l’Officier de Police Judiciaire (OPJ), sur instruction du procureur, a autorisé la levée du corps en vue de son inhumation prévue pour ce jeudi 23 octobre 2025.
Rams Malikidogo a lancé un appel à la population locale, l’invitant à ne pas céder à la détresse pour des conflits pouvant être résolus :
« Ne précipitez pas vos décès pour des choses inutiles dont on est censés résoudre », a-t-il déclaré.
Il convient de noter qu’une quinzaine de cas de pendaisons ont été enregistrés depuis le début de l’année dans le territoire de Mambasa.
