La Convention pour le Respect des Droits Humains (CRDH), antenne d’Irumu, alerte sur de graves violations des droits humains perpétrées dans la localité d’Otomabere, territoire d’Irumu, en province de l’Ituri.
Dans une déclaration rendue publique, Christophe Munyanderu, défenseur des droits humains et représentant local de la CRDH, dénonce des cas d’arrestations arbitraires, de tortures et de détentions illégales impliquant des éléments de la Police nationale congolaise (PNC).
Le cas le plus récent concerne un jeune homme interpellé dans la nuit du jeudi 27 novembre 2025, aux environs de 21 heures. Selon la CRDH, la victime a été menacée, menottée, puis attachée à un poteau en bois pendant deux heures, avant d’être placée en détention. Il n’a été relâché que le lendemain, vendredi 28 novembre, après avoir payé une amende dont la légalité est contestée.
Christophe Munyanderu interpelle directement le commandant de la PNC mis en cause : « Qu’il sache que la RDC n’est pas une République bananière où la jungle doit primer pour remplacer les institutions. »
Et d’ajouter : « Chères autorités, vous n’êtes pas sans ignorer que nous avons traversé une période très difficile. Vous êtes venus restaurer l’autorité de l’État, vous ne pouvez pas vous comporter comme des rebelles. À ses autorités hiérarchiques de l’interpeller afin qu’il réponde de ses actes et restitue l’argent qu’il a escroqué à ce citoyen congolais. »
