La Croix-Rouge de l’Ituri, avec l’appui financier du Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR), a apporté une aide humanitaire à 2006 ménages déplacés à la suite des récentes hostilités dans le territoire de Djugu. Parmi eux, 1515 sont installés sur le site ISP et 491 sur le site de Kigonze.
Chaque ménage a reçu une somme de 264 000 francs congolais destinée à couvrir leurs besoins alimentaires essentiels.
Selon le Dr Lemy Tabay, président provincial de la Croix-Rouge en Ituri, les bénéficiaires ont été sélectionnés selon des critères de vulnérabilité :
« Le critère était porté sur les filles-mères et femmes enceintes, les chefs de ménages, les personnes du troisième âge et celles vivant avec un handicap physique », a-t-il précisé.
Le responsable humanitaire a également indiqué que des démarches sont en cours pour élargir cette assistance :
« Nous sommes en train de travailler pour continuer à mener des plaidoyers auprès d’autres partenaires… Cela nous permettra encore de revenir à ces déplacés, en utilisant d’autres critériums », a-t-il affirmé.
Cette opération d’assistance s’est déroulée sur une période de quatre jours, permettant de toucher l’ensemble des ménages ciblés.
